This pool landscaping project in Ocean Grove created a relaxed pool and courtyard area within a one-acre bush block. Completed in 2024, the Woodlands Project combines limestone paving, ironbark decking, hardwood posts and glass and aluminium fencing around a French provincial-inspired pool and courtyard.
The materials were selected to complement the surrounding gum trees and connect the new landscape with its established bush setting.
Pool landscaping in Ocean Grove designed around the landscape
Landscape architecture by Softloud Architects established the direction for the project, with CMS Landscaping Design and Construction completing the landscape construction.
The pool and courtyard were designed to create the feel of a private holiday retreat while remaining connected to the natural character of the property. Limestone paving around the pool provides a light, natural finish, while ironbark decking introduces warmer timber tones that work with the surrounding vegetation.
Together, the paving, decking and pool area create a connected outdoor space rather than treating the pool as a standalone feature.
Limestone paving, ironbark decking and hardwood features
Limestone paving forms the pool surrounds and provides space for moving around the pool, relaxing and entertaining. Its natural tones sit comfortably alongside the timber and established landscape.
Ironbark decking creates adjoining outdoor areas and connects different parts of the pool and courtyard. Hardwood posts continue the timber detailing through the landscape and help define the outdoor spaces.
Glass and aluminium fencing completes the pool area while maintaining views across the courtyard and surrounding property. Pool fencing was completed by Shower Screens Plus, with Telford Carpentry also involved in the project.
Landscape construction on an Ocean Grove bush block
The established bush setting was an important consideration throughout the project. Rather than competing with the mature gum trees, the limestone and hardwood materials provide a simple transition between the constructed pool area and the wider property.
The Woodlands Project demonstrates CMS Landscaping’s landscape construction capabilities across pool surrounds, limestone paving, hardwood decking, fencing and outdoor areas.
