Completed in 2025, the project combines concrete paving, bluestone crazy paving, corten steel garden beds and cypress fencing within a cohesive landscape designed and constructed by CMS Landscaping.
Concrete and bluestone paving in Barwon Heads
Paving plays a central role in the landscape, providing practical connections around the property while helping define the character of the outdoor areas.
Concrete paving introduces clean lines and a restrained finish that suits the contemporary home. Large-format concrete elements are also used through garden areas, creating informal pathways with planting and groundcover incorporated around them.
Bluestone crazy paving provides contrast through its irregular shapes and natural variation. Used around entrances and alongside the home, the bluestone creates a more detailed surface while maintaining the understated palette of the overall landscape. The combination of concrete and bluestone allows different areas to have their own character without feeling disconnected.
Landscape construction with considered material choices
The hard landscaping is balanced by corten steel garden beds, which create defined planting areas and introduce a warm, weathered finish. The steel contrasts with the grey paving and lighter exterior of the home, while established and developing planting softens the hard surfaces.
Cypress fencing is another important element of the project. Used throughout the landscape, the timber provides privacy and screening while bringing a natural texture to the contemporary architecture. Vertical timber detailing also helps connect the landscape visually with the timber elements of the residence.
Together, the paving, garden beds, fencing and planting create a practical landscape with a consistent material palette. The result demonstrates how landscape construction can respond closely to a home’s architecture rather than compete with it.
Paving and landscaping designed as one project
CMS Landscaping completed both the landscape design and construction for the Grandview Project. This integrated approach allowed the concrete paving, bluestone crazy paving, corten steel garden beds, cypress fencing and planting to work together across the site.
